Jussi Ruskanen

Jussi Ruskanen is a lighting designer and an artist based in Helsinki, Finland. 
 
He has graduated from the University of the Arts Helsinki with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Drama (Lighting Design), and is currently finishing his master's degree. 
 
In theatre he has worked with Estonian directors Tiit Ojasoo and Ene-Liis Semper at the Dailes Theatre in Riga, Latvia (2024), the Estonian Drama Theatre & the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in Tallinn, Estonia (2023), and the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia (2020). 
 
He was nominated for the Designer Award 2024 for the lighting design of Macbeth (2023) at the annual Estonian Theatre Awards by the Estonian Theatre Union. 
 
In 2021 – 2024 he worked as a designer at the design and production company Sun Effects, where among other things he did stage-, area-, and lighting designs for the startup and tech event Slush held annually in Helsinki. 
 
He has also done lighting design and worked as a lighting operator for music festivals (Flow, Sideways, Ruisrock), music videos, concerts, contemporary dance and other events.
